SETAC AU Student Travel Scholarships

We are pleased to offer six Student Travel Awards to attend the 2026 SETAC AP Conference in Tsukuba, Japan for Full SETAC Student members who have an abstract accepted for presentation (poster or oral presentations). The Award will be for AUD $2,350 to be used towards travel, accommodation and conference registration. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this award, applicants must be a “Full” SETAC Student member (i.e., “Free” or  “Explorer” SETAC members are ineligible to apply), registered as a member of SETAC Asia Pacific.

Application and deadline

To apply for the award, please download the application form here, complete and return to australasia@setac.org before the deadline of Friday 17th July 2026.

Applications will be assessed as follows

  1. Preferences will be given to:
    1. Students from the SETAC Australasia Region (i.e., Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea and their territories). All other SETAC Asia Pacific Student members are still welcome to apply.
    2. Final year PhD students intending to give an oral presentation. All other students are still welcome to apply.
    3. Students travelling the greatest distance to Tsukuba, Japan. All other students are still welcome to apply.
    4. Students who do not have other funding sources available to support travel. All other students are still welcome to apply.
  2. The strength of the justification for receiving a Travel Award (see application form).
  3. Abstracts included in the application (see application form) will be assessed against the following criteria:

a.       The research/study is well justified.

b.       The abstract contains information on new, original research content or scientific concepts.

c.       The abstract contains sufficient technical data and description to explain the results and support the conclusions.

Successful applicants of the SETAC AU Student Travel Awards 2026 will be notified before the conference Early Bird registration deadline (27th July 2026). Award funds will be transferred electronically by SETAC AU to the awardee’s nominated account. The awardee will be required to sign and return a document stating that they will only use the funds for the purposes of attending the conference.
